Personally, I don't care enough about ride or handling enough to to put any energy into it. I find that running the posted PSI in the posted tires satisfies me. Most people don't bother to look at the government mandated tire placard on the driver door frame and throw the maximum amount of air into the tires; that will jar your teeth.

Some tire shops around here adhere to what the vehicle's placard reads. & they will not stray.

Thank Goodness for my Mom-n-Pop shop, they will put on what I want. And they have the Road Force balancer also.

No, you still aren't getting it. 225 does not make it too tall. 225 is the width. It's the height that determines how tall the tire is. A 70 series tire is taller than it's equal width tire in a 60 series.

I bet that no matter what tire you get, you will not notice much (if any at all) difference in their ride quality.

Just go to https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator - it will layout for you the sizes that fit.

ie: (and the min-Max is the wheel width that works)

Tire Size Min Max Diameter
245/45R16 7.50in 9.00in 24.68" -2.49%
185/60R16 - - 24.74" -2.26%
225/50R16 6.00in 8.50in 24.86" -1.79%
205/55R16 5.50in 7.50in 24.88" -1.71%
255/45R16 - - 25.04" -1.09%
195/60R16 5.50in 7.00in 25.21" -0.39%
235/50R16 6.50in 8.50in 25.25" -0.23%
265/45R16 - - 25.39" 0.31%
245/50R16 7.00in 8.50in 25.65" 1.32%
205/60R16 5.50in 7.50in 25.69" 1.48%
225/55R16 6.00in 8.00in 25.74" 1.71%
275/45R16 8.50in 10.50in 25.74" 1.71%
195/65R16 - - 25.98" 2.64%

I understand what you are saying. The 225 is the width and the next number is the height.
I was saying someone already posted a 225/60 is too big and will hit.
Someone else posted they USE a 215/60 because it is shorter and won't hit anything.
I'm not saying that my understanding is that a 225 is taller than a 215; only that it's been stated a 225/60 won't fit and a 215/60 will

Yes 225 is taller than 215 but look at the aspect ratio. Both tires have a width 60% of their height.
The taller tire with this width has a sidewall bulge that would rub the strut tube is my understanding of this.
Going to a 225/50 would give you height ( not as much as a 60) and a lesser bulge and also a narrower tread width.
