Who tests fuel economy at constant speed?

Many times yes the 20's will be heavier but between 18's and 16's of the same or atleast close width there are many on both sides of the fence. Bottom line for what my point has been here is that just the 16" vs 17" vs 18" does not automatically make the larger rim heavier. Especially when the tires may weigh less for the same overall height tire. But I can even find some 20's that weigh less then some 16's not to mention 18's.
I have no doubt that their are some combos out there that can be lighter but the choices are very very few.

Here is a good tread pattern study

This is a drastic change in tread which with mixed driving is 1.75 mpg. I doubt the difference in tread between a non directional and directional will yield that much.

If they would let me at work I would love to derivate two cars with 2 different set of tires to see the actual rolling resistance differences.

Why are you stuck on gas milage? The topic at hand is acceleration. NOT GAS MILAGE. But anyways I am done since you can't stay on topic.

Seriously that was just an example. Do I have to do all your reasearch for you. You are missing every point made for some reason.

But since you can not find this out on your own here is a 18" wheel that is similar priced to the 16" that weighs 23.8lbs. This 18 like many others weighs less then that and some other 16's. The point once again is that size of wheel does not always determine weight.

Now I am truely done talking with you.

dude it a forum chill out...performance and gas mileage are related. I get you "can" find wheels that are lighter in a 18 vs a 16 we have accomplished fact. I was just stating the fact that you referenced a 400 dollar OZ wheel vs a clearance cheapy.

Again the Apples to Apples part.

Size: 16x7.5
Offset: 42mm
Backspacing: 5.86"
Bolt Pattern: 5-110
Rec. Tire Size: 215/55-16
Weight: 16.3lbs.

Size: 18x8
Offset: 42mm
Backspacing: 6.10"
Bolt Pattern: 5-110
Rec. Tire Size: 225/40-18
Weight: 19.45lbs

nobody else seems to care about this subject so I'm willing to drop it.
