Nankang tire review(first impression)

as some may remember i posted about some cheap tires on ebay. i purchased them and recieved them 4 days later(2 business days). so today my uncle and i put the tires on at his shop...they went on very easily to my surprise. they were very balanced to begin with and 1 tire did not need any weights to be balanced. so my ride home consisted of some swerving and such to test the new tires out. the first thing i noticed is road noise. they seemed loud but couldnt even be heard with windows down. and by the time i got home they were silent. they were very smooth compared to the stock michelins and also were not pulling in either direction(like the michelines did). as for the swerving, i was yanking the wheel pretty hard back and forth to try to loose traction and they grabbed the road pretty darn good. it took a pretty good shift in the weight of the car to make them break traction. they seem to grip good when punching it from a 25mph roll. the old tires would spin pretty good before i got grip. this could be a bit wrong because of the 90 degree temps we had today. all in all it was worth the $344 so far. we will see what i get for treadlife before i finish the review

Thanks for the update. Too many folks have the discussion then I never see a post mortem.

My Falkens haven't gone on yet, but I intend to breathe life into my "cheap tires" thread once I do. Just eeking every last bit of tread off of my Hankooks before I throw them away.

I had Nankang tires on my other hhr and never had any problems with them. You don't always have to pay for a name to get a good tire.

I agree, having a Big Name tire doesn't always guarantee a good tire..

Just an update with the tires..I already posted my timeslip in bigjacksauto's thread, but the tires gripped pretty good. the time slip i didnt post had a 60' time of 2.38...not sure how this ranks, but compared to the michilens which were 2.7+, the car stuck way better. they didnt spin half way down the track like the michelins either.
