Question Non OEM Tire Sizes and TSC/ESC

Pondering replacing the stock tires on my 2011 HHR. If their wet performance is any indication, it going to be like driving a sled come the snow season. I would like to bump up the size a little at the same time to 225/55R16's.

I've already gathered from reading threads here that this size should fit fine. However, is the extra 11mm radius and the speedometer being off by 1.7% going to present any problems for the traction control or electronic stability control?

Thanks!

No, not if you do all 4 corners the same, you should be fine. Just watch your speed and adjust for the difference. I'm running that size as a summer tire and they are great.

Just a reminder that your Section width and your tread width will increase slightly.

That will slightly reduce your Lbs. per sq.inch per tire on the road surface.

Higher Lbs. per sq. inch = better traction on snow and ice.

Narrower tread section width = Less resistance against plowing thru deeper snow.

This applies to ... traction to go, and traction to steer.

Air pressures can also be a factor.

In this case not a big deal, but worth consideration for now and also in future applications.
