raising with tires?

As a means to raise the front end a bit has anyone installed over sized tires with any success? I have 16 or 17 inch wheels to work with, steel 16's and Mag 17's, would rather go with the 16's due to price, would even go for a 15 inch solution if there was one, anybody have any information they are willing to share?

How much are you looking to raise it? "a bit" can mean a lot of things to different folks...are you thinking knobby tires or just taller?

Remember that any tires over 26" in diameter will probably hit the lower spring perch on the struts with the inner sidewalls, not good to have them rub through the tires.

You will be limited to a 26" diameter front tire no matter what you are trying to do. Anything larger than that is getting very close to the lower spring perch on the front strut.

EDIT: Okay.... I type slow.

Thanks for the information, it looks like another route will have to be taken. Sorry for the "Delay" I've had some problems in between, ''Brain Tumor'' now removed successfully and getting back to ''Normal".....

I need to get the front up so it doesn't scrape parking stops and even some drive way entrances to shopping centers, thinking springs the next option, see other reply from another helpful member for reason for delay in communication. Thanks!

I'm going to remember that 26" measurement and look into suspension methods of raising it a bit, springs my next area of exploration and I am very thankful for all the replies received on this, again apologies to all for the lapse in communications...

Have you checked to see if the front end is sitting lower than another HHR? Really any scraping you encounter should be rare - very rare.

Slowing down when entering those steep entrances might be a more practical solution, or does it scrape even when crawling? Or if you have a lot of miles on the car, have you checked the front struts for leaking?
