Rim re-paint procedure
Rim re-paint procedure
So, what do you have to do to re-paint the LS steel rims? Never done this before.
Im probably going to do this myself unless the dealership is cheap enough. But i'd rather spray paint it gloss black and do the work myself.
How many cans of paint for all 4 tires, sand paper etc???

If you don't have tires on the rims, it's sanding, paint, let dry. That's pretty much it. If you want a gloss, might want to look and see if there is a clear that you can apply.
If you do have tires, you can have them removed, then above, or tape them off, then above. Not too much too it. All depends on how much you trust yourself with a can of spray paint and your fundage. I'd personally have them painted professionally, but that's me.

We personally would save our money to have them powdercoated! They will be sand blasted and sprayed and ask for a clear coat! Where you live the wheels will look pretty shot after a year if you try to go the spray can route! You get what you pay for! Although we live in sunny California our wheels were powdercoated 2 years ago and look like the day we first installed them!

If your lucky you might locate someone in your area that may do them for say $35.00 ea. on up, we paid the California shop rate of $400.00 for the set (we don't know them, haha)! Your probably thinking I could spray them for the cost to powdercoat one wheel! If powdercoated properly you should have them done once and just have to keep them clean for a long life! Spray Caning them will never last living where you do, you get what you pay for!!!!!

I painted my fathers steel wheels to match the body color two years ago still looks good. I got the paint from here.http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ Its a base paint with a clear coat like factory paint. I painted the wheels without removing the tires from the rims just taped up to the outer lip of the rim because the hub cap covers the rest of the wheel. all I did is use a scuff pad and scuffed the rims wiped the rim with brake clean and painted with spray can per directions. seems to be holding well so far. dads getting up there in years and don't travel as much as he use to.
