Saturn Sky Rims and Tires... almost

Well...

I finally upgraded the stock metal wheels/hubcaps with a set of 18x8 Saturn Sky chrome rims and 245/45/R18 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Everything fit.... almost.

I had to cut the plastic wheel well at the back inside corner (which I had already done a little bit to fit my MagnaFlow muffler) as the 245/45/R18s were rubbing after installation.

The front... that was a different story. I had to replace the front tires with 225/40/R18s as the 245/45/R18s were about a half inch too tall and I would've had to ground down the lip where the front spring sits and I didn't want to do that.

But I think it turned out good, what do you guys think?

BTW, just turned over 351,000 kms on her yesterday.

as sabertooth said to wolverine, "ooh.......shiny"........
question about your hood mask:w/o the screen does it flap alot?
i just got the two piece for mine, but have a custom 3-bar that the grill/mesh material won't allow for using the grill straps

ABS and traction control may not like 2 different tire sizes. Looks good though.

Spiffy!

He's got an '06 LS, so there's a good chance that ABS and traction control aren't on it, unless it was ordered up with all the goodies from the factory.

They look good.

BTW, you could have went with a 245/40 up front, those will clear.

Yep, 06 LS so no worries about ABS or traction control.

I liked the thought of the 225/40/18s up front. Thought maybe I'd get a bit of the old school canter by having bigger tires in the back. Doesn't lean too much but I swear I feel that I'm pushed forward a bit in my seat.

As for the hood mask... It is a Chev part bought back in 06. Doesnt flap at all. Very tight fit. That being said the bungie straps have lost their stretch so I've had to tie a couple knots in them over the years to keep the tension for the bar under the hood.

My kid just turned 17 so he was kind of eyeing the hhr today as it sparkled in the sun. And of course he just asked if I needed this tomorrow as he could drive it to school if I wanted. If I wanted.....

Look great nothing better than a shiny 5 spoke rim
I did some quick calculating and it looks like you at least have a tire with a very close height
To an original
So your speedo should show the right MPH.
Keep in mind I am talking speedometer not beach speedo
Lol
