Solstice Rims on my LS

Been reading all the posts (well most of them anyway) about people using the Solstice rims on their HHR. Some here say they use the Solstice rims on the HHR, but they don't say what it took to get them mounted. Some say they did not use spacers, others have with and without longer studs. It is hard to tell what fits because people do not tell what size tires they have mounted on the rims.
I think they look great and ran across a deal on a set. The guy I bought these from told me they were mounted on his HHR without any spacers. He said they will bolt "right on". So I tried them on the front and the rear. When I mounted them on the front, the tire rubs the strut on the bracket where the stabilizer attaches (see pic below). Did not try turning the steering to see if it would rub anywhere else. It appears the spokes will clear the brake caliper, but it is really close. The rear clears no problems. I think the e-brake cable was the closest thing to the tire

The tires mounted on my Solstice rims are 225/45/R18. I have not verified the offset, but from what I have seen here, I would need 16mm offset spacers and longer studs. The factory HHR studs cross-over to a Dorman 610-324 (M12x1.50 x 34.5mm Lg). If I need 16mm spacers, the studs would also need to be 16mm longer. The closest Dorman stud I could find would be the 610-323 (M12x1.50 x54mm Lg).

If you have Solstice rims mounted on your HHR, would you care to list the specifics about your setup?

Thanks

HHR Year and Model, i.e. 2009-LS
Tire size : i.e. 225/45/18
Spacers ? Yes or No. If yes, thickness please
Longer Wheel Studs? Yes or No, If Yes length and source for studs.
Other suspension mods that would effect tire\rim setup?
Any issues with rubbing?

You could measure the offset.

And that is why we don't put rear wheel drive rims on front wheel drive vehicles.
You've already done the math now pull the hubs and swap out the studs.
Although adding spacers is really not recommended as they add strain on the hubs.

Is it just touching the swaybar end link bracket?
Are those aftermarket struts? What brand?
Anytime I’ve read about Solstice rims, I’ve read that longer studs and spacers are required.

It seems spacers and longer studs are required.

Yes. Its rubbing on the strut. I circled it in the pic. As far as I can tell those are factory struts. The PO said nothing about changing them.

I just measured the rims and they are 54mm offset.

LS rims are 42 mm , so at least a 12 mm difference. Does the strut have 2 mounting holes for the swaybar end link? OEM would have just one.

This KYB has just one tab , they are left or right specific part number

As we see in this Moog photo there is a bracket welded on to the strut

The bracket on mine has two holes. I guess so that it can be used on either side. Fro.m what you are saying I must have aftermarket struts. If the bracket did not wrap around like the "KYB" in your picture, my tire would not rub at all.
Thats probably the difference. I need to replace my struts too, so now might be a good time to do that.

Thanks

Why is there no end link attached? Is it in the other hole?

Yes. That pic is the driver side looking from the front of the tire toward the rear of the tire. The stabilizer is hidden from view behind the strut.

Look at the 1st link OldBlue posted, in particular post # 3 from SSfan, he had them dialed in perfectly.

And the OP perhaps didn't tell you things since he was wanting a sale. So, the rims look bicchen' but need set up properly.
