Solstice wheels & spacers?

I have a chance to get a set of solstice wheels but I have read on here that you need spacers, but in the same post it was also mentioned that the lugs were not really long enough so they purchased new ones after running the wheels for a while..can anyone explain? I can see spacers if the lugs were too long or back spacing isn't right. Maybe back spacing not right..hence the need for spacer = short lugs/stud?

The spacers are to move the rim outward so the offset will be correct. If you don't use the spacers the rim/tire would mount too far inward and either the tire or rim could rub. Not sure but I would say it would either have a tire rub on the strut or inner fender well, or, the brake caliper could rub on the inner rim spokes.
So. If you move the rim mount face outward with spacers, the stock lugs are stll in the original hub position. That means they won't stick through the rim as far.
Can't remember the offset difference between the HHR and Soltice rims, but that's the reason the spacers are needed.

It's not that big a deal, I extended the studs on both, and run H&R spacers (15mm). Never had a problem, and they are the easiest wheels I have ever cleaned......

Ya solstice wheels are offset 58mm, hhr is built for only 42mm. Thus a spacer around 16mm is ideal, but the wheel studs are really only good for 5mm, so swap out for longer studs too.

With the Solstice Rims, does the front only need spacers?
