Time to buy some new tires

I'd be interested in hearing recommendations for replacement tires for my 2006, 2LT HHR. (215/50-17).

Thanks

Goodyear Triple Treads or Goodyear Eagle GT's [the new models as they are not in anyway like the old ones].

Dunlop sells a similar tire to both at usually lower prices. Goodyear owns Dunlop and often sells similar tires made in the same plants.

I got a set of Goodyear Assurance tires some 20,000 miles ago. My average mpg gain is about 1.4 mpg more than the original stock tires.

The Assurance Fuel Max make even bigger gains on some cars. They are already on the Prius and will be on the new Volt.

Goodyear has really changed their tires in the last 5 years. They spent the money for development they had not spent since the early 80's. Their new tires are top of the line now. Most of the old tires are or will be phased out.

The RSA is the one that still really needs to go. It was bad then and still is today.

I put a set of 215/50/17 V- rated Cooper CS4 Touring tires last month. Remarkably quiet at all speeds, very responsive, and great in the wet weather. Paid $556 and then got another $50 off with a Cooper rebate. They are rated for 80,000 miles..........that we shall see.

What would you recommend for the SS? Need something that will hook up better than the originals.
