The stems are two piece. A stem that snaps in like a regular valve stem and then the sensor that screws onto it. Yes, you can easily put sensors in the aftermarket wheels. I'd advise on getting new stem parts and not trying to reuse. That's the cheap part of the sensor setup.
Your post happens to answer half my question about the TPMS system. The parts are one thing but do you know what is necessary to get an 07 HHR that doesn't have the TPMS system to recognize and display what the sensors report? I am interested in adding this to my car. Does the BCM need to be re-programmed or something? Also, what about adding "instant MPG" as well? Any thoughts?
