HHR SS vs 350z (2007 or so)

Hey guys, I've been reading these stories about HHRs vs 350z...

Would you guys think an HHR SS with the stage 1 kit, magnaflow catback, could possibly compete/beat an 07 350z?

Those have 305 HP.

(The 350z would be stock of course)

Definitely, been there, done that, several times. Most amusing on 2 lane onramp when Z driver has GF with him. The new 370Z, unfortunately, is a different story.

Yeah, 330 HP I believe... But then again, who wants to pay that much for something so little...

This ignorant highschooler my friend knows, says he boosted his Z from 300 to 400 HP with a "chip"..... Lying to impress people. Nice

All I have on my SS is the gm turbo upgrade. My friend has a 07 "HR" Z with an exhaust. From a 30 roll its about a car and a half difference with him in front at 120. From a 45 roll its a little closer but he still gets me. However the "DE" Z, 03-05 I believe is their year, I could beat when I was stock and they had a few mods. I wanna say something is slightly different on the 06 z's but I've never raced one or know exactly what that difference is. Of coarse we only race on closed roads.

100HP yes is a stretch but I know for a fact that a chip and timing adjustment on the VQ 3.5 motor on a dyno test showed 43 whp now consider that what was mentioned before that the motor really turns out 330 from the factory at motor now chip and tune it and get 43 whp which translates into about 65 ish almost 70 depending on the drive train.. now all of a sudden if you are talking at the motor HP you went from 330 to 395 and you are hitting the numbers the kid quoted you.... Unless you know the difference between motor and wheel horse power I can understand how the logic might be hard to follow. In short 100HP is unattainable from a chip weather it is motor OR wheel HP but 65 at the motor is VERY realistic and doing the math might have proved a point. All I will say is if you don't believe me look at what ALL the programmer companies are claiming with diesel trucks...

You guys taking out 350 Z's could only be for 2 reasons 1 you have sticks and they have Autos but in a long run they should still win and 2 they didn't know how to drive! I had an 02 Maxima (same motor as Z LESS HP) I had a 6 speed manual (factory) The whole car was stock. thing would Move though 130MPH+ (never tapped it out). I was hanging with a Zo6 and in the end I beat him through traffic. Did I win yes why did I win is the better question... Once we got up to 105 he shaky behind the wheel either because he didn't feel safe or he didn't know how to drive it that hard. The thing is I'm real I know that car should have walked all over me but it didn't. Unless you are on a closed drag strip you truly don't know what car can beat what.
