HHR vs Big Raccoon
Driving north I-35 to Kansas City on a drizzly , cold October night. I came around a curve to see a big raccoon running towards me from the center wall.
I was doing 70-75 mph, no time to react and probably not a good idea to swerve on wet hwy. anyway, I hit the coon in the center of my HHR. It didn't sound to bad, but I watched as my temp. gauge started to climb in a hurry.
I pulled over to shut it down, just then the fan came on and started screeching (the fan not me). The coon had barley caught the bottom lip of the front fascia which flexed enough to push in ac condenser then radiator. Fascia
had small split underneath (not visible). had to replace condenser and rad.
Yes, I had lowered my HHR with goldlines, about 1.75 in. very possibly making a difference damage wise. No protection below bumper.
