War story of sorts

At the Fall G2G Goodguys show, they put on a autocross for cars that are entered in the show. Since I do work for the Goodguys[and know them personally] they enter my SS in the shows for free.
I was doing the pinstripers thing all weekend, but on Sunday, decided it looked fun, so decided to see what the SS would do on a short course.
Only got to make two runs, first one just to get the hang of the couse.
Left the ESC and TC on, and made my first pass, only about 75%. SS was snarling, cornering like a frigging slot car, lighting up the tires on the straights.
Came back and parked, and starting to draw a crowd. Couple of SCCA champions came over, and said "Your first run, you ran a low 36 sec. run" That is quicker than most of the V8's out here" They said the crowd really enjoyed your run, and gave me a few pointers.
Second run, ESC and TC off, and backed up a couple of the corners to correct a little push, stood on it harder. It was more of a handful, really hauling the mail, and really lighting up the tires[the guys said flat smoking them on the straights,26 lbs. boost]. Ran a 36 flat on second run. Only a second and a half off two ZO6 Vetts, and quicker than almost all the cars not set up for autocrossing.
I have been invited[by popular demand] back to run the autocross both days next March, and believe me I will be loaded for bear this next time.
Found out this baby hauls mail, and puts on a good show doing it. "Moon"
P.S. And I was one of only a few not to hit any cones. Both runs clean.

Great story Moon! Bet you could better that with some practice but it's obvious you and your SS were made for each other!

Sounds like pedders and a sway bar make quite a bit of difference for handling.

All the 2011 Goodguys events are heald at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, in Pleasanton, Ca.
The 2011 sechedule calls for the Autocross to be run June 4-5 , 2011,18th Summer G2G, and 22th Autumn G2G ,Nov. 12-13. There is a 29th All American G2g, March 26-27, 2011, but they are not showing a Autocross. I'll check of that one, after the holidays[when Gary Meadors gets back from his winter vacation home in AZ.].
I'm for sure running the two Autocross events next year, and will be a little more serious about it, next time, now that I know the SS, ain't no pooch.
Anyone intrested in any of the Goodguys events nation wide, can Google up Goodguys and check it out. Really good shows.
I'm personal friends with the owner, and second in command, and work the Pinstripers Bash at the three shows in Pleasanton, so they comp me to enter the shows, and have invited me to do the Autocross next year. I'll ahve all my mods done by then. "Moon"
