Codes p0010 & p0011???? 2010 Chevy hhr
What exactly are the codes p0010 & p0011? I've looked them up but I still have no clue what exactly they are? The guy at Autozone didn't explain much of anything. he acted like it was a burden to help. What I did get out of him was that the camshaft position sensor is open. I want to know how does this affect me driving my car. How much will it be for the repairs? I took to Chevy today and the codes did not pop up but my code reader and two different auto zones got the same codes. This is getting very frustrating and there is not another closer Chevy dealer to where I am at. I want to get my car fixed but finding exactly what is wrong is becoming such a hassle.

She probably won't find it man
Well mpc3227, forget everything the autozone guy said, and go read this thread - the first post in the thread will explain everything you need to know, including the part numbers for the INTAKE SOLENOID that needs replacement:

NOTE: it is a SOLENOID that needs replacement, not a SENSOR (big difference)

As was stated on these modern engines a tune up mostly consists of changing the spark plugs and wires.
When I 'tune up' my HHR I also change the air filter and the oil and oil filter.
That's it.
The cars computer controls the rest like ignition timing, spark advance and other stuff you used to be able to adjust. If your cars computer is out of whack you can expect to pay a dealership lots of money while they throw parts at it then finally convince you to replace the main computer for lots more bucks.
The codes you listed are for the camshaft position sensors. They do go bad you have one on the intake cam and one on the exhaust cam. They are not hard to change and there is a step by step picture posting on this site {Whopper posted a link above}, there are also a few videos of how to do it on youtube.
Some shops {other than a dealership} might string you along for a while {they really like to do this with women a lot} or they may just take the short route and fix what is really causing you problems, still for an amount of money, but at least it will be a 'one and done' kind of fix.
Of course that does not mean something else won't go to hell later,...
Pretty much anytime the check engine light [CEL] is on, the vehicle preforms badly, it might still run but it will not have the power it should which fits with the symptoms you described. Your dealership should have been able to read the codes you posted.
Before I bought code reader of my own the guys at AutoZone were really good about reading the codes and most of them knew what the codes were probably being caused by. Not just the generic babble the code reader puts up for them to read.
