THUMPING NOISE suspension

THUMPING NOISE suspension
2009 HHR with 99,000 miles. i have a thumping noise in front when going over bumps in the road. i live in Michigan and the pot holes are everywhere. It sounds like some sort of suspension bushing might be worn out? a friend had the same noise in a Saturn vehicle and the dealer replaced some bushings in the front end and the noise went away. Can any one give me some information on what bushings and how to replace? no noise when driving on a smooth road.

Very common complaint on these vehicles.
Instead of being very redundant and providing information on the how to....you should try a Search on this forum, found in the middle of the title bar. You probably will find 100's of threads and thousands of posts. I believe there is also a thread dedicated to front end thumps, rattles, clunks.
But to answer specifically to one of your questions....it COULD be any number of suspension or front end components making the noise....that is why I referred you to the Search bar. You may be able to narrow it down somewhat, since it is a very broad topic.

99k miles and roads full of potholes, you've probably got more than 1 thing worn out with that mileage.
Do as Snoopy suggested and use the Search function.

I believe that there is actually a thread devoted to "rattles, shakes, noises".

the bushings most likely are the front lower control arm bushing easily replaced by replacing the complete LCA, then there's the sway bar bushings also easy to replace.

Mine had the same noise. Thought it was sway bar links, but it was sway bar bushings. Hope this helps.

One more of those "Post a question and don't return" people.
Makes me leery of wasting my time to answer.
