Engine power reduced & then engine disengaged
My 2009 Chevy HHR has been showing a engine power reduced warning & dismantles the engine. The scanner said it was the MAP Sensor and a Open Circuit A. Do i need to replace that sensor?

Fwiw. You need to post up the actual code numbers. Posting "The scanner said so and so" is just asking for a possible misdiagnosis from this forum. Post up the code numbers and I'll bet someone here will have an answer.
Oh yeah. Welcome to the site.

Scanners give "p" codes, the person reading the scanner "says" the description of the code.
What I mean to say is: The description of the code that the scanner may print out is totally useless, it is only a title that rarely has anything to do with the problem at hand. You need to know the pxxxx code in order to diagnose a problem.

I believe that some translations from other languages to American English would have disabled/shutdown= dismantled, disengaged. I have heard Brits on TV using those words like that.

Everyone should have a scanner and access to the list of codes. If you aren't a DIY guy, at least you won't go to a mechanic/dealership blind. The scanners aren't expensive and will also clear codes.
