Bolting on a BNR K04-2871R

Well almost have my turbo entirely off. Only thing I hav left is to take the oil lines off and unbolt the turbo from the manifold.
I'm bolting on a BNR racing K04-2871R and a Tial Q bov. A solstice has already put down 371whp with this same turbo.
Stay tuned.

Definetly will be Trifecta at first as I own the cable and everything. One of the cobalt ss/tc guys has a k04-2871R swapped already and uses Vince (Trifecta) to tune.

Also for those of you that don't know, BNR is also making a k04-2860 which a smaller then 2871R but bigger then our k04. It is a true 100% bolt on turbo, no BOV needed. He takes our stock k04 machines both sides, sticks in a 2860 cartridge with bigger turbine and compressor wheel.

The 2871R needed the bigger compressor housing for the flow thus why you have to use a bov as the BPV isn't there like the stock housing. But everything else bolts right up to the factory manifold and downpipe.

2871 all the way!!!!!! I can't wait as I have been waiting for and following this since it was first talked about in a kappa forum. For the money you can't beat it. I have compared prices on a half dozen or so kits and this is hands down the best bang for buck as far as a turbo upgrade.

There are other kits out there that cost 4k and are just too big unless you want to build yourself a new bottom end..............which I should do anyway at 73k who knows I may build it anyway but I am in no way an engine builder and while I don't mind spending money on parts, I'm not big on spending the same or more $$$ in labor. FF Ace spent 3300 on his build including a spare head to get ported...he's gettin a free port...lucky bast heard If I could get it done myself, I might do it. I had a friend several years ago doing a prelude build and he spent over 20k on his car all said and done, built the motor with the best of the best, ported head, the whole 9, and his oil pump failed and blew his turbo. He ended up sellin his car after that for like 7 or 8 grand and I am deathly afraid of something like that happening. It's always the one part that gets overlooked that takes a crap on you

Since you have known Cobalt guys to put down more whp with the stock
K04, can you provide a dyno sheet for proof, because I"m calling BS.

All the confirmed Cobalt ss/tc's with high whp/dyno sheets are 340-350 whp on cobaltss.net, by BYTand Terminator.

The only one who says they are higher is Terminator at 360 whp but no dyno sheet that I know of. He's also one of only 2 tuners int he entire country I would trust tuning with HPTuners. BYT being the other.

I don't know why your trying to blow smoke up everyone's ass but I'm calling your bluff without proof.

Even if you could get a k04 to run 370 whp (not happening) you would be so far out of its effeciency range, it would be a time bomb waiting to blow.

Do us a favor and not spread anymore misinformation till you educate yourself on the LNF platform, thanks

Yeah man, definetly best bang for buck for a true bolt on turbo with a BOV. The 2860 is a straight up bolt on without a bov.

I just got finished this morning pulling my turbo out. Its a pretty straight forward process.

ok dude..... seriously..... no need for you to go all douche bag in your response. you have absolutely no clue how what education i have, so shut your mouth. all you had to say is.... "can you provide proof?" that's all that was need, instead you go off like you're the most educated guy in the world when it comes to the LNF, which you aren't.

anywho, i'm going to admit that i was wrong.... i was off by 10whp. i have 2 friends that are VERY well known in the LNF world that have put down 360+whp with the stock k04..... steddy2112 & M-Dub, they don't care about being on top of any lists or bragging rights, hence why you won't find their dyno sheets (which are just numbers) on CSS.net

but i'll tell you this right now.... if all you put down is 370whp with that turbo upgrade.... you just wasted $1200+ for a 10-15whp gain. it's all in the tune and i'd imagine you should be at least in the 390s with that swap.

Your the douche that came into my thread spewing false information.

Wow you are real ignorant aren't you, do you have a clue what your talking about or do you just say stuff you get from your friends and the internet?

For one, a Kappa platform is rear wheel drive, a Delta platform is FWD. That 370 whp is on a Kappa rwd platform, your looking at about 400 whp on a Delta.
^^^just from that alone makes you uncredible in advice or anything else you have to say.
When you are getting your butt handed to you by all the BNR K04-2871R hybrids swapped cars at the drag strip while still running your stock K04, please feel free to come back to this thread for a refresher.
There is a reason why the K04-GT28 thread is so big on Cobaltss.net and it has nothing to do with how great the stock K04 is, maybe you should go read it and educate yourself.
Yeah dynos aren't the end all be all but they help, heck I'll settle for time slips of said cars with 360 whp. I want to see what they are running and trapping.
So unless you have those stay the **** out of my thread. You sound like a jealous hater the way you came storming in here.
