I towed the HHR SS to my tuner today he found the problem right away.
This may help the explanation.

He had to order me new spark plugs and re install them , then he's going to run it on the dyno to make sure there is nothing else causing any problems. He is going to turn the boost down and give me a 93 octane tune. I'll check back in when I know more!

I have 2 questions.

1. What gap have you been running?

2. What gap does your tuner recommend?

keep in mind my boost was turned way up to 25, so that could be the biggest problem right there, I think?
I was running stock AC/Delcos with a 30/32 gap. I haven't talked with again and he didn't say what he was going to gap them except that he hates Iridium plugs so since they don't make a copper plug for our SS's he was going one step colder and platinum plugs.

Makes sense.

I am certainly glad that this could be the solution to your problem.

I would hate to see you damage your engine & have to invest even more money.

Hope that takes care of it Tim. I'm not certain about that plug blow out link you had there. Seems like if you had the problem while under heavy load, that the plugs could've failed. Wouldn't you have had misfire CELs then? Boost @ 25psi didn't help the situation any, but that's not excessively high. Did you get to look at your plugs, or are you doing all this over the phone/email? I'd be curious to see the Delco's condition.

Guess I'll be taking mine out this weekend. ZZP sent me a new set of iridiums pre-gapped. I'll find out the gap when I get home.

Got an appt with the dyno, Aug 5!

I got news for ya if I have to keep spending the amount of money I already have!
As much as I love this car and I really do I'd get rid of it!
I have my eye on the 2016 Direct Injection Comoro :)
