Some V-Hate?
I'll keep mine, thanks.

I'm not dogging our cars, and yes turbos mitigate the 4 cyl weed-eater sound somewhat. I worked for Stainless Works, a Cleveland manufacturer of custom and racing exhaust systems, and heard headers, downpipes, X-pipes, open exhaust, and countless variations of mufflers on just about every kind of car imaginable. While differences do exist, at the end of the day, small 4 cylinders sound more alike than different. Pretty much the same for V6's. A 10 second L67 still sounds like a chain saw on steroids. I even had a long tube header and large mandrel bend exhaust on my old Probe. It had a nice rumble at idle that might pass for V8 if you had a few beers in you, but when you tromped the gas, it was "fast and furious" time.

Personally, I like the relative quiet of my SS, and the downpipe and exhaust function superbly for a daily driver.

I will agree Subies with the right stuff sound amazing. I wouldn't go so far as to say they sound better than any LSX, but they do sound good.

IMO it's impossible to beat the sound of a V8, but the Subies come in a close 2nd.

I didn't say they sound better than any V8, just any LSX that I have heard. As someone previously stated, the LSX sounds like a chainsaw on steroids, and I, for one, don't think that's a good thing. This is gonna piss off all the Chevy nuthuggers on this board, but I prefer the sound of modular Fords.

Just for my personal curiosity, can you find a clip of one that you think is a perfect example? Not trying to disagree, just haven't found a V8 that I don't like yet.

Perfect example of which? Good or bad? They all sound pretty good at idle, I just don't like the way most LSX motors sound opened up.

I think this one sounds like crap. I particularly hate the SLP Loudmouth exhaust.

This one sounds nice:

Neither of those are perfect examples, but I didn't have time to do a whole lot of searching.

**EDIT AGAIN**

We're so thread-jacking. Let's start a new one if there's any more discussion about 4cyl vs 8cyl exhaust sound.
