I am not positive but I do believe I have read information about them getting 800+ HP out of that little 2.0L in their race cars. The engine is solid and probably one of the better engines GM has produced in recent years.

About 750 hp before breaking a internal part..wrist pin galling I believe.Don't confuse this with a 2.2 or 2.4......they don't have the steel crank and rods and can't go that high without internal mods.

where does this info come from? not saying you're a liar by any means, but that is awful high, i would just like to see how this was determined. i find that just crazy for a stock motor in a car that is well under $30K

I would be happy with 550 WHP on this light weight vehicle. Thats a low 11 sec potential.

I am sure there are many mods that would need to happen to achieve that HP rating but if you search the net there are plenty of forums and articles that show that using this engine at the base can get some really high HP ratings.

I would hate to see what kind of torque steer you'd get with anything approaching 500HP on a FWD car.

The FWD Impala SS has barely over 300 HP and is all over the road.

The limited-slip diff helps a lot.
