I'm gonna get cold air into this motor or else!
We already have a fuel volume problem to solve on gasoline... trying to run alcohol or methanol would only exascerbate it at this point. Once we get the magic answer for how to get more fuel (in the appropriate window) through the injectors, I would imagine we'll see people starting to toy with E85 and E95. 600-700-800 streetable horsepower??? Hmmm...
.
That having been said, I wouldn't do it myself for a number of reasons.
1. A hiccup from a meth system can often mean a new engine if you need it to maintain a safe AFR.
2. Tuning a meth / gasoline mix is trickier that straight gas. You have to learn to think in terms of Lambda rather than AFR, as your stoich point is going to be way off of 14.7
3. As you stated, running fuel through the injectors is absolutely the correct way to go on a ported or DI setup. The air path may not be designed to handle atomized liquid properly, running the risk of puddling or uneven distribution.
On the other hand, doing anything with the E69 is uncharted territory for the most part, and substituting a different injector on a DI setup has got to be "interesting." I hope GM eventually takes their DI controllers back in house instead of subbing it out to the Germans.
For charge cooling and detonation insurance, I like an alky / water mix myself, as it has been proven to give the best balance between specific heat and ease of vaporization. I don't tune for it because I'm a Republican.
There's no reason to even consider methanol until the fuel volume issue is cracked. At which point... for those moving beyond the street... yeehah!!
I will not hold that against you.
No, I wasn't talking about switching to meth, but rather adding meth spray to the existing gas coming through the injectors. That can get you more fueling if you're willing to take the risk of a failed meth pump or clogged nozzle.
I didn't see anything in this post like what I am about to say...but I cannot contain myself.
