Got the kit and installed it today. Overall impressions...

- HP Gain? The pipe is not significantly different than the stock, but it DOES make a difference. I was already running the K&N filter, so the pipe does have benefits.

- Install was fairly easy and came in at about two hours, but I'm relatively useless so you may do way better here. I skipped taking the air box off but probably should have as it got in the way and increased my level of uselessness.

- Air Box Cover is not bad looking but definitely cheaper than the stock and the bolt holes did not line up perfectly. I painted mine a metallic red and it looks great. Time will tell if the paint holds up. Overall quality of the parts other than the cover are pretty good.

- Bang for the buck? I think $199 would be a more appropriate price range but I'm not gonna complain too much.

Hope this helps anyone considering the kit.

JB

^^^^^^^^How can you possibly feel the benifit of 2 or 3 HP the pipe may gain you? That makes no sense...Maybe with a 10 horse lawn tractor maybe...I am adding a stage 1 Monday and the K&N intake....That I will feel for sure..Al

Where do you get 2HP from?

The kit gets you +9HP at the wheels, and my point was that since I'm already running the K&N air filter most of the 9HP gain comes from the pipe, and that definitely is noticeable.

Good luck with the Stage 1 - you will have no choice but to notice the HP gain there. :)

Thanks...cant wait....My point is I bet most of the HP is deriverd by the filter more so than the tube...I ordered a kit anyways...Not that much in the scheme of things...Al

Most KNN filter really gain little power. It is the change in the induction tube. While this kit is little changed from stock HP is a small gain as most of their other kits do better. The Z06 does 20 HP and even my GTP is good for 17 HP.

The fact the HHR gain is modest is because the intake is better than many most other in stock form.

Any gain with no tearing into the engine is good but it just comes down to how much you want to pay. Speed cost $$$$$ so how much you want to spend and how fast you want to be.

significant gain

There was only one thing that made a bigger change than the stage 1 upgrade and that was when I had the fat mrs stay home

Here is a picture of the painted K&N air box cover. If the paint holds up I may also do the fuse box cover.

I installed mine the other night. I tried to use the stock air box cover but it seemed to not fit that good anymore because the filter is a bit bigger and the new air box cover is higher to fit it. It didn't look that bad when I put it on but my car is black and my Hahn pipes are black to so it goes with them. I was thiking of just painting the raised K&N letters red to break it up a bit.

I am going to try this kit and add another honest assessment. The reason I believe that the hp gain may be noticeable by the "seat dyno" is that I have had experience with motorcycle airbox mods where the only change was an increase in volume and the performance improvements were definitely noticeable and measurable.
