nitrous?
Ok here is a few fun facts.
NOS does not = Nitrous, NOS is a company that sells Nitrous Kits.
Zex is not highly regarded in the Nitrous world as it is considered at best a "Beginner's kit and is inconsistant" BUT they do make a good Nitrous Plate,
This is a LSx specific site BUT read through the stickies, there is some incredible information to help you. I had researched this for someone else and you could buy a Universal Drive By Wire kit which many companies sell.
Nitrous does not kill engines, improper use, installation, bottle pressure, fuel pressure, activation among many others are key factors. Also pushing the power level beyond the limits of the engine is a good way of doing it.
Avoid Dry shots as the amount of extra fuel from tuning will ruin driveability and gas economy for 99% of the time and for the 1% of actual use is not recommended. Wet kits work just fine.
On forced induction set ups like the Turbo SS may see a cooling effecting by spraying the intercooler and thats a old school trick in dropping air intake temps.
Enjoy!

Now when one adds performance parts the durability is comprimised if it is not done right. No matter if it is NOS or a cam shaft you need to install the proper parts completely.
My job is dealing with performance parts. Too often just because a guy has a set of Craftsman wrenched he thinks he can make a car fast with a few parts. I see so often a guy put a radical cam in a Mustang only to have if fall flat on it's face. He failed to consider that it needed a converter and gear to make it run better. It also failed to open the intake up with a larger intake and required larger injectors.
The simple fact is before you undertake any modification you need to make sure you read up and understand all sides of what you are doing and do it right. Short cuts and saving money usually end up with poor running cars or damaged engines.
NOS does not kill engines but uninformed people doing the wrong things do kill engines.
Today so many people do not use the cam break in lube and are wiping cams out left and right. It comes down to the fact they have not kept up with what is going on. Even old timers need to keep up.
NOS works fine and the wet systems are best. It must be install properly and used properly. If you educate yourself you will lessen the change for problems. But NOS and like anything else as you make more power there is a chance of breakage and other issues that could happen.
The key to all modifications is know what you are doing before you buy the first part and match the parts together. Too often a guy builds a good engine and then smokes the clutch. He then upgrades it and then the rear end breaks an axle. This is followed by a failure of a driveshaft.
Think of the whole drivetrain as a packages and build accordingly. Cars are not over built like they used to be and today knowing what all parts will take is important. a 75 shot of NOS is not too far out but I have seen other bolt on more than it will take and they wonder what happened.
I see a lot of money wasted everyday and much of it could be prevented buy people just planning ahead and doing the job right. Most NOS failures are just due to poor planing and people getting in over their heads with mistakes.
Just looked at your profile and noticed you have an SS. Here is a thread with some talk about it: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...hlight=nitrous
Went and reread that thread Dayton , What ever happen to XXL , I miss that dude ?
(got PM a couple of months ago about some stainless tubing)If I ever get the wild hair up my ass to get rid of the SS, I'll hook up a nitrous system before i trade it in. Had a buddy in college that took an old 280Z through the woods one night the day before he traded it. snapped both rear struts while traversing a 12"+ fallen log! this also cracked the windsheild, and broke the front passanger seat loose. Good times!
