Talking I'll bite !

rocketbus
Easy Capt. cheddar

If i thought for a min. that glueing a fake plastic scoop on my car would add hp. , I'd have 50 scoops glued all over the car.
I say to each his own ! If i want to glue plastic rocket engines on my doors, and Glue plastic army men to my roof , then thats my thing , and thats what i'll do. Get over it.
My "gay" plastic hood scoop is one of a kind. I did the work and i'm happy with it, I think it works with the body style very well , and i've had nothing but compliments about it. Notice last sentence , There's no how do YOU like it ? , What do YOU think ? , What would YOU have done ? It's not about you.

I have a freind, Who has Dragraced pro stock for 35 years.
His take on what hp. results i would see if i made the scoop functional
are 2-4 hp I trust his thoughts.

There's a ---- load of HHR's on this site, That i Think look like crap, however i have a bit more class than to say so. Alot of guys have put alot of work and cash into there rides, For themselfs and i can appreciate that...... To each his own !
Just my opinion , Not a fact !
But i must say your ss looks very much like every other silver ss, nice.

Oh ya,

GO BEARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can remember the days when coolder meant more HP, thanks to our computers, as I found out this winter, the ECM pulls back power under dense atmosphere, and without a tune to by-pass certain codes. It seems to me that a scoop would be strictly cosmetic, now for RAM-AIR I know a couple of draggers that actually pump compressed air from SCUBA Tanks through the plenum mixed with washer fluid, and there is a method for shooting acholol into an Intercooler, which because of the chemical atomizing of the alcahol, up the compression in the intake thus "ramming" more air! So our HHR's are not an X-Plane, and Ram tech only works past 2,500 MPH but so what. Denser air than ambient entering the intake is still considered RAM, science aside. But, I'm no rocket doctor, just a guy who likes cold air at 2-3 atmospheres less than whats comming through my window!
I think most racers will draw a distinction between increasing charge density through temperature manipulation and actually compressing the charge by some forced means, such as a turbo or supercharger. Colder air will still make more power with a computerized engine control, it just won't do it in closed loop, which is where 90% of your driving is done. GM ECMs will go into PE (power enrichment) mode at a defined RPM / temperature / throttle position / manifold pressure. At this point, fuel mixture is the result of a lookup table, not feedback from O2 sensors.

The conventional perception of ram air is that air captured by the scoop or headlight inlet or whatever on a moving car will allow more intake air induction than it would in a car at rest. This is the myth that needs to be debunked.

In the old days we used to also have what is called a cool can that we used to put ice in to help cool the fuel while racing. The fuel entered the can at one end and came out the other much cooler than when in the tank. But again we all had carbs.

We still sell a lot of these as they kill vapor lock on hot days at the track. Fuel will vaporize in the line and the ice will help prevent it.

Lol. First of all, before this turns into a pissing match, I just said that non functional ram air hoods are useless. I didnt aim that specifically at YOUR car... but you can take offense if you want. That just means your insecure about your plastic member

But all joking aside. I guess I'm not a classy guy... but then again, never claimed to be. I speak my mind n dont apologize for it....

And as a side note, since you felt it was necessary to mention the bears... thats not even worth the effort to comment on.

PS wanna watch the Brewers spank the Cubs again? ... and again and again
