Stage 1 vs Trifecta vs Superchips
My SS isn't raced either but I like the extra power/torque with my GM Performance kit. I like the idea of being able to safely navigate warranty concerns as well. As a former Service Manager I know how GM feels about anything aftermarket on their in-warranty vehcles.
I have over 15,000 trouble-free miles and it was worth every penny.

I agree that the HHR-SS will never be a competive drag racer per say.
It was built as a fun runner, and it does that well. The HHR is quick and handles, and even after you would sink a whole lot of $ into it, it still would'nt be a competior at the strip, except for gruge racing[which you probably will never run against anything that would be in your class at a NHRA strip]. I used to drag race[for thirty years] from my own personal cars, to crewing of a Top Fuel, and a couple of jet cars, so I did'nt just fall off the banana truck. Had a AWD Eagle Talon that ran in the low elevens[also a four banger] with not much $ invested.I know a little from what I speak.
I put the Trifeca tune in my SS [only 3800 miles since new] for some more H.P. and torque[which it did in spades-can you say, light the tires at anything under 50mph, with CC on.] just for a fun thing. It sure is'nt a drag racer, but it sure puts a smile on my face, when I nail it.
I've found on this site and others, that you will get all kinds of opinions on most any subject. I call it "falling in love with your stuff"[stuff being a nicer word than, what I meant].
Anyhow, the SS is one fun ride, for sure, and I really like mine, and plan on modding it some more, to my taste.
P.S. I get a kick out of some guys that refer to tuner cars as "Ricers". "Ricers" refers to foreign cars, but proper term would be "Tuner cars". Besides, what they are attempting to do is basically the same thing, to American iron.
Now I'll step down from my 6' high soap box, and say "NEXT" "Moon"

Personally I don't think GM ever intended the HHR to be a straight line car, not the way the front is built( no traction)....and the fact they went thru all the trouble to run Neuremburg, which is more of a twisty course...now as a twisty car I think this one has a lot of potential...yall seen some of the vids on the closed courses and parking lot races and they held up quite well against cars that were more..whats the word..purpose built.
As it sits on the showroom floor it will turn a .87 lat accel and Pedders pushed that to a .93 with bolt on's ( please correct if wrong).. even the stock LS ( which is the econo model ) turns a decent corner, AND on cheapo tires! Now the SS has an advantage because of the re designed steer knuckles and such..these are twisty parts.. not straight line. May be GM's compromise of a ricer/utility for competition purposes......who knows..I know it works....

they are nice little cheap cars, i use mine for a winter beater/daily driver and it does a good job other than some electrical problems it had. they seem to be worked out for now though.
Sure it is but please post up the slips and I'm probably trapping higher stock that you are modded. BTW, I've learned how to do drive much better and learned how to launch, something autos don't take much to learn and I know. But yes please post up a stock time and new times. Thanks If not, then your 14.1 never happen
lmao, your 15 second fwd drag car is really impressive little guy!
do a search on youtube for pittsburgh raceway park and you will find it. I am not doing your homework for you little feller.
sorry but 15 seconds is 15 seconds and even if you trap 900mph all that shows is that you can not drive lmao.

typically, no timeslip=never happened. Until you post up the 12 second timeslip then I doubt anyone is going to believe you. Especially running a 1.7 on street tires with a fwd lol. I have hit 1.79's on street tires with my rwd but that is a rare event. The best i have done with a fwd on street tires was a 1.92 and that was with great track prep and traction bars on the car.
well ,i said earlier i was happy with the superchips, great hp gain and super easy to do.The only need to even try anything else was due to other posts and the need for speed.I tried trifecta from vince and it wasnt quite up to par so with a call, vince sent me a new tune with some finer adjustments and immediately saw an increase in boost and of course power.Vince is great and i told him i was very happy with the increase in performance and asked if we could even go further so he requested a performance log of the car now and i sent it.He was very happy to fine tune even more and sent a 3rd version all no charge.Well this thing rocks, burns all through first and into second and is so much fun you would need to drive it to understand.Ive had shelbys, big blocks, hot small blocks, two vipers and everythinfg in between and this little 4 cyl turbo car is a blast. You really have to be carefull punching it up to 60 mph depending on traction because it will spin the tires and torque steer off the road.Vince at trifecta knows his stuff and i recommend him to anyone that wants their hhr to perform like a big block car.I run everything that comes along on the street and havent lost yet.The time will come but this thing is one of the most fun cars i have ever had and lead footin it all day still gives 20 mpg unbelievable, thanks vince
forgot to include,my car has aftermarket cat back, resonator left on because it was too loud and a k and n air filter.Lowered front and rear and new sway bars front and rear.Car now hits about 24 lbs boost with trifecta tune.Boost hits about 4-5000 and when it does it will loose traction up to 60 mph or so,scary at times but fun.lowering and sway bars makes it more fun to drive too coming off on ramps and leaving everyone else behind
