GMTU or tune (Superchips, Trifecta, etc)

I've had my 08 SS for a couple weeks now and am ready for more torque/HP. I've read many threads about all of the options and can't seem to make a decision. I am out of factory warranty but did buy a 3 yr extended warranty so don't really want to void it. Any suggestions??

I had both superchips and currently have trifecta....DONT waste your money on superchips...It was a nice upgrade, but trifecta is better for less money.

Badassbowtie or other HP people

Need advice on tuning my '09 SS. It is a stock SS and never has had any thing done to it. I want more horses. Please help.

I was in the same situation as you with a extended warranty. Cant do anything else except the GM tune if you want to keep your warranty. Dealerships will notice any tune Stealth or otherwise. In my opinion the power increase is perfect 20 to 23 psi. I suppose it depends on where you live, im in SoCal so with a lot of crowded city driving the GM tune provides me with more than enough power. If you live in a area with more wider open roads and less cops then yeah a aftermarket tune would better suit you, other tunes provide more power but keep in mind you run the risk of messing up your pipes. Most guys with after market tunes up grade other parts to handle the extra power like the hot and cold side pipes inter cooler and so fourth, and of course you can kiss that warranty good bye. There are pros and cons with whatever you go with, but i wouldn't risk getting a aftermarket tune at least until your extended warranty is up.

If you have a laptop, the budget tune thru trifecta was pretty easy if you are ok with using a computer...

They mail you a cable to hook your laptop to the obd port in your car. You download their program, and they send you an email with the tune. If you choose the budget tune, then you just send the cable back and you are all set...If you have a custom tune, you will data log your car and may have some tweaks sent through email. Its laid out for you pretty easily

oh and I'm not sure about any warranty issues...if you were really worried, I would go with the GMTU for sure...
