Just curious why all the discussion on Bar VS PSI when the gauge reads in PSI (USA)?
mistermike, do you have a different way of measuring the pressure/vacuum or just doing the conversion?

Well, the 'ol butt dyno says the kit is a good deal. I have Blizzaks on the car right now and am unable to see how much boost is available because I run out of traction before I run out of boost. Nonetheless, it does go above 2 bar, so the new sensors are doing their job. Actually, it would brush up against 20 Lb before the traction nanny kicked in. I'll look forward to seeing how she performs with the summer tires.

I drive the same 25 mile commute every day, and the "inst mpg" indicator seems to be saying I'm getting a little better fuel economy. I'm sure the new calibration involves more than just a different wastegate table, and I imagine changes to cam, ignition, and injector timing are probably why the economy is a little better. This DI and VVT thing is pretty new, so I suspect the rules are still being written to a degree (no pun intended)

Anyhow, my hat's off to the fellows at Powertrain and GMPP for a job well done.
I am thinking Stage kit in the spring. How much was the rate at Tim Lally?

I need to know what to expect for a fair install price in Akron. If Lally is cheaper I will make the drive since they did a good job for you.

It's an engineering metric thing. 1 Bar is 14.50377 PSI, 29.52999 inches of mercury, ground level pressure. As far as I can remember when the fuel injection thing started everyone seemed to adopt the metric unit of measurements probably because most companies are global now. Transmission pressures are generally referenced as kpa or kilopascals. 1 bar equals 100 kpa, 1 PSI equals 6.894757 kpa.

I deal with these type of units all the time it's the best explanation I can come up with at the moment

The tech at Lally is an old friend of mine. He agreed to do the 1.2 hour labor, but it actually took him almost three, because it was his first one. We wasted a lot of time trying to get the damn lower pipe out, but wound up cutting that ridge off without removing it. I'll check with him and see if he wants to do more of those. I suspect there won't be a problem because he can do it pretty quickly with the pipe in place. A razor knife heated up with a torch makes quick work of it, and I left him copies of all the extra diagrams that the other members have been kind enough to post up. Anyone in Cleve PM or call me and I'll be happy to check it out for you.

I've done a lot of tuning on my GTO and installed a 2 bar MAP sensor to allow a MAFless tune for the supercharger. Normally vacuum is expressed in InHg and pressure in PSI, and they are gauge values rather than absolute values. Kilopascals is a much more convenient unit to use that takes you from full vacuum to full boost with a single unit of measurement. Most tuning guys seem to use kPa, even if the other parameters are still expressed with English units. I still can't get with Celsius and kilometers, probably because I'm such an old fogey.
