Turbo Upgrade Kit Question

Will the kit change the boost? And does it only work in competitive mode? I just had it done and did not notice any change in boost unless I had it in competitive mode it hit about 22 psi in second but only 16 psi or so not in competitive mode. Everything seems fine no codes from the install so I figure the program took. Also what should the boost be in 1st?

Depends on the weather... from what I understand, you can see boost as high as 22psi in cooler ambient temps, but warmer weather will play a part in lower boost levels. It SHOULD work regardless if competitive mode is on or not. Someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in shortly I'm sure.

Maybe it's just me I'll have to do some more testing tomorrow. No SES lite is on and it all seems to run fine If somethings not right what could it be? Any suggestions?

I'm pulling in about 22psi winding out in 2nd and 3rd, but only lately (like this afternoon). Seems like a couple of weeks ago it was a stretch to pull 20. Last spring when temps were cooler, I was hitting around 24 at a pop when the ST1 kit was first installed. One thing that's consistent about turbo boost pressures is the inconsistency, but so is the weather (ambient temp, humidity)

This is in normal ESC/TCS mode.

Well all is fine. I got on it a couple times this morning and it would hit 22 psi in 2nd Guess I was not getting on it good enough yesterday roads were wet and I was just too careful. Definitely pulls harder in 2nd than before

As long as it feels right, don't base performance on the boost gage readings
This car is intrically controlled by electronics that will vary boost, VVT, ign timing, fuel curves to the point where unless you have something to read out ALL the parameters the boost gage should only be used for reference. Learn what it does throughtout all conditions and after awhile you'll know if something is amiss by gage readings,, but I'm sure you'll feel it a long time before you see it

As above.

As a long time forced induction user, I can tell you that boost is the measure of the air that DIDN'T make it into the combution chamber. Manifold pressure at a given wastegate setting will always be higher at lower temperatures. Simple physics: colder air is denser. With the ability to alter cam phasing, it is entirely possible for certain modes to show higher boost with less power and visa versa.

My GTO made 11 Lbs of boost with the stock motor. After building a stroked 408 with AFR 225 heads and a 612 lift cam, same blower pulley only makes 5 Lbs. I guarantee the power is not lower than before.

If you had a engine that only had .020 valve lift, you could make 30 Lbs boost with a bicycle pump. I wouldn't take it on Pinks, though.

Thanks, I can tell the difference in the performance. The reason I asked about the boost is I was under the impression the ECM controled it. Before the upgrade I would see about 17psi here in hot humid FL now it's about 22-23psi so I figured it was a way to tell the program took. Now I can't wait till it starts to get cooler here to see how it reacts.
