Ok guys my mechanic pressure tested the radiator which was good had to replace the upper hose were you fill small leak new stat ac delco .. ok still no movement. As far as radiator fluid .. the car starts runs fine .. just the temp creeps up on it .. like I said I had the chain replaced with a new pump had use cloyed timing kit came with about everything ,so my question is the timing chain runs the water pump correct ? Ok what does the balance chain run the oil pump ? If any chain snapped the motor would not run correct ?

 

The water pump is driven by the balance shaft chain. If that chain broke, it would run, but I think you would know it was broke. Here's a thread about a balance chain problem, and a way to check the chain https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/ss-s...e5/#post797120

 

so if was broke you hear it .. just a little worried but like I said the car engine runs fine just the creeps up to a point to get hot ..

 

Anybody ever have the balance chain broke ? What would be the symptoms? My motor runs no bad shaking at all just curios..

 

Watching the flow under the pressure cap can be misleading, checking the temp of the radiator outflow would tell you more. The impeller can break or come off the shaft. If the chain broke you would know it, it would vibrate like a 4 cylinder engine.

The pump "sucks" the coolant out of the radiator, no cap no flow.

 

thanks don for the input I'm have a radiator shop to put the new pump in .. they done it before because that's first thing I asked .. beside that comes with one year warranty so if anything happens it Thur baby ..

Well the shop called and said chain was loose and one of sprocket was broke part of the teeth that's why no cicurlation going to replace chain sprocket inspect the oil pump and all replace balance chain tensioner major work .. get it fix and trade it in this sucks but hopefully make a little money or break even ...
