I don't remember seeing this particular dowl either. It would make sense that it's a spacer, they usually don't come out. I'll let you know.

It did come out of the intake. Another instance of can't see the forest for the trees. I had already put the intake in a box. I wasn't thinking about it anymore.

Now to put it back together and see if there's a different outcome.

Lost Compression, WRONG CAM

Does anybody have a sorce for a 12621516 intake cam? I've ordered 3 intake cams and none where correct. After contacting my local GM parts distributor I got the correct part number but it's no longer available through GM. The aftermarket is no help and has bad information. I can't find this cam so far. I would appreciate if someone had a sorce for an intake cam for an 09 vvt, LE8, flex fuel, B engine designation alternative intake cam.

Why are you replacing cams? I don't know what could destroy one without malice. The only thing touching them are the bearings and the rollers.
A machine shop would be able to fix anything but a broken one, probably point you to a source, if you insist.

Bad cam

They are rusted from sitting and condensation. It is a motor out of a wrecked car. I didn't want to reuse them.

scrubby + motor oil. I can't imagine more than surface rust on the bearing surfaces. Your money.

You could call up the wrecking yards and see if they’ve got any “parts” motors laying around. Most larger yards have non salvageable engines they use for engine parts.
