Oil Drain Plug

Haven't yet had the opportunity to change the oil on my car. Where exactly under the motor is the oil drain plug located? Its hard to locate on the oil pan just by looking under the car without it being on a lift.

On the passenger side, behind the front wheel, look toward the front and you should see it.

Solman's procedure and pictures are an excellent guide. Thing is, the only part I've been able to achieve is the "Drink a beer" portion of the procedure. I'm not starting backwards or anything, it's just that that's the only part of the procedure in which I choose to partake.

Maybe it's because I'm a smaller guy but enough of me fit under the front of the car to gain access to the drain plug and drain the oil (you need to use one of those carboard box type oil containers as it's the only thing low enough to fit under the car). with that part out of the way it was a piece of cake to R2 the filter on top. Takes about 15 minutes.

Be prepared when you first remove the plug for the stream of oil to be almost horizontal. It helps if you have a drain pan that you can hold in one hand at about a 45 deg angle next to the plug while removing the plug with the other hand. Otherwise it can get messy.

Try cutting the front out of a gallon jug and hang it behind the engine with a coat hanger. The oil hits the back of the jug and it acts like a funnel directing the oil into your container. Makes it a lot easier and less messy.
