Won't start

I have a 2011 HHR LT 2.2 VVT engine it has 135,00 milesI parked it 1 day and it wouldn't start again. I pulled the valve cover to find every rocker arm was snapped in half. I ordered a new rebuilt head replaced it replaced both cam sensors also replaced the cam solenoids , timing chain guides and sprockets and the balancer chain and sprockets brought to TDC and set cams at 10:00 and 2:00 crank at 12:00 and the balancer chain at 12:00 and6 6:00 and 6:00 all this due the the Timing chain tension had locked up I also replaced that. since doing all this the engine turns over fine but will not start I have fuel I have fire and I have checked the timing 3 times taking it apart and double checking myself.the head came with new cams I doubled check it to make sure the numbers on the head matched. anyone have any clues. Thanks I really need help I understand that these VVT engines are a pain I have a code Poo41 that won't clear after replacing the cam sensors is it time to call it quits and get rid of this HHR

Welcome to the site, glad you could log back in , the crank is at TDC but on the wrong stroke.

have a look at this video

it’s never time to get rid of an HHR, unless your spouse tells you there’s one to many in the driveway.

P0141 means the #2 O2 sensor is ether disconnected fuse blown or defective. I can't find P0041.

??? Maybe I'm misreading this but what exactly do you mean here ?
With the timing chain off, TDC is just that. There is no intake or exhaust "stroke" until the chain is installed.
Not saying you're wrong Steve, only that it isn't clear what you're trying to say.

For the OP. Not sure how you rechecked the timing marks but it takes a lot of revolutions until ALL the marks will line back up again. Something over a hundred to get all marks back to their corresponding spots.

NO ! That not going to help. Besides, if you even tried that you would have pistons hitting the valves that are open. These are interference engines. The crank can't be turned if the cams aren't turning in sync with it.

Maybe the pistons are broken, from contact with the valves. Have you performed a compression test?

So Fireman you are saying no matter what all I have to do is set the crank at 12 and the cams at 10 & 2 and thats it ? theres no finding the compression stroke ? IM old school these newer engines confuse me lol...I turned the crank until I was on the compression upstorke then I set the cams at 10&2 and installed the chain. are you saying this is wrong ?and as long as the crank is at 12 thats all that matters ???

How would you turn the crank to TDC to find the compression stroke without pulling the head or cams ?
