The other issue that occurs on these is the camshaft "snout" can move/rotate and alter the timing. They are pressed on the camshaft and depending on how the engine met its demise, it can really cause headaches.

Also in response to having intake and exhaust cams reversed, it has happened to me by the machine shop I use for head refurbishment.it will not cause valve damage fortunately, but it's a headache to swap them, reset timing and tensioner, etc.

That picture is of the camshafts before the gears or sprockets on the phasers are bolted on. You must install the camshafts on the head in the correct position or you will damage a valve while trying to turn the camshafts to line up the sprockets to 10 o’clock for the exhaust and 2 o’clock for the intake to time the timing chain correctly with the crankshaft sprocket.

No problem, we just want to ensure our members have the correct information to work on their rides!
RJ when you swapped engines, the new engine was completely assembled and you just installed the front guide top bolt , right. So there’s no adjustment to align the camshafts.
I found out that , turning the engine over with the starter and a broken timing chain can put the crankshaft and timing chain cam sprockets out of alignment and to remove the cylinder head, you have to remove the camshafts, that’s why I located that photo of the engine
