K&N Cold air intake installed ????
My 96 was 9.x according to K&N. I only did a dyno once, and that was once every thing was done except the Wait4Me.
The traction control light has not come on for a few days now, maybe it`s OK now.I noticed something the traction light came on when I turned the steering wheel all the way like to make a U-Turn or when I parallel parked one time,it sounds weird I know. The Canuk!!
I will get a piece of the rubber and post a picture ,I will also try to find out where it comes from.I can check it out at my local windshield shop,I think it`s some kind of window sealer, but I`ll check it out for you for sure.I don`t know if you noticed the oil filler neck is gone on my HHR,maybe it`s been posted before but all you do is take off the long neck and the cap screws on in it`s place,it looks much better than that ugly long neck sticking out don`t you think??The Canuk!!
You know I was thinking about that grommet in your pictures today.
I thought to myself, if K&N wanted it there, they would have provided one.
So I wrote them questioning the design.
I even sent them one of your pictures, and here was there response.

Thank you for your interest in K&N products. The hole around in the air box needs to be there. When driving, the air flow through the engine compartment will drop to near the outside air temperature by the air flow around the engine, otherwise the engine compartment would be over 220 degrees all the time. So hot vs. cold air is not an issue. The air filter at times will need additional air flow and will need to get it from that gap in the heat shield. So by plugging it up there is a chance the air filter will be starved for air. Hope this helps

Once removed, I found it difficult to put my funnel in and pour the oil.
The neck actually holds the funnel in place for pouring, so I put it back.
Yea, it does look better with it off, but with the risk of misplacing it, I figured I would leave mine installed.
thanks,
Keith
Update on my traction control light problem,I emailed K&N and they told me that the installation of my cold air intake has nothing to do with my traction control light coming on and told me to have it checked at the dealer,my question is what will the dealer say when he sees the cold air system. The would be work done on the warranty,WLL THEY DO IT.!!Can they legally refuse to work on my car because of the cold air installation??Maybe someone out there can help??
My local dealer said they can't refuse warranty work unless they prove the modifications caused the problem.
In the case of intake or exhaust mods, as long as you don't remove any emissions equipment, this would include the little hose to the valve cover, you should be fine.
