So get everything I plan to do and do it all at once, that was kinda the idea I had being I've done projects before(non-auto related) and ended up with a new part or component I wanted installed but had to redo all my previous work in order to get that new piece in. I can imagine that could get real spendy labor-time wise with a sc project.

I may just end up changing my mind again and go the new parts route or a complete sc kit if the parts search doesn't go well as my labor guy who would do the initial install will be in Cali from March to December next year and I want my "new and improved" HHR for this coming summer so need the majority of the work done by end of Feb.

I will do some research!

I'm going to take a not so wild guess and say you are panel man over at cobalt. I searched for cammed head job and boom, there was a user talking about buying some parts from Freek.

Either way this will be a fun project. Will begin a thread on here and maybe cobalt that will show progress from beginning to end.

Peace.(get BLOWN!)
Yeah if your not doing the install yourself the labor can add up pretty Quick. So it's wise to plan everything ahead. The Supercharger will create heat so the more cooling mods you can add the Better.

Look at ZZP's New Stealth heat exchanger, it's BIG and SWEET for our SC installs. I'll be getting one sooner or later.
I have a small CXRacing one I got from Lunchbox here , i'll use it but if theres Any signs of too much heat, the ZZP Stealth will go in.

I am doing my install by myself, but at a buddy of mines auto repair shop.
Were gonna start it on a weekend and he will help me with the head swap and getting the Timing right.
Then I have at the Supercharger part of the install, he has a very busy shop so I am pretty much on my own unless I get stuck and need to ask him a quick question. Unless we get more completed over the weekend start, during the week I am on my own as he'll be busy running his shop and his employees.

I did all the vinyl graphics and lettering work for his shop in exchange for the use of his shop. I did 1 front glass entrance door, a large front office window, the 2 rear shop doors and the 2 large bay doors, and I did 2 coroplast 2 sided signs and a large vinyl banner for him.

He offered me the use of his shop, but without some kind of a Trade I did not want to take advantage of his offer, then he had the glass replaced in one of the doors so that opened up me doing all the graphics and lettering. And we both get something in return. I get a shop with 3 lifts and 4 mechanics working at the shop besides my buddy the shop owner to ask any questions if I run into any problems.

One of his mechanics just rebuilt his own 07 Cobalt SS SC, so he has experience with this setup.

In fact I stopped by his shop this morning and we decided on the First week of January to start my install.

Looking at the calender here, Hopefully I can get started Friday evening after he closes on January 4th.

Yes, getting less then half price labor adds up. More money for mods!

Took a look at the heat exchanger. Now is this a piece that would replace the S3 heat exchanger that comes with the supercharger kit? I wonder if ZZP would just include this one instead of the one in the kit, if there is much difference between the two.

Uff da, solo auto work can get hairy. When I do body, interior or stereo install work I can do 95% of everything solo but some thing just require two people.
Ya my guy is basically a retired business owner who builds hotrods and choppers and does cheap labor for folks who are brave enough to venture away from the dealerships or regular private shops who charge 90+ an hour, he's beyond experienced and knowledgeable in most areas of repair and customizing but I'm there 90% of the time to help out when a friend or I has something there.
If I ask him to do work ahead of time we have his shop all to ourselves with just the occasional person coming by for a quote. He was a lucky find and now a good friend.

Hey, I have a buddy over in MN that does vinyl. I still remember when I went with him to get his first Gerber plotter and cutter years ago.

Looks like we both got good set-ups. He has got two lifts and an assortment of tools and machines that would make most shops jealous. He is just so much into customizing hotrods he needs an overkill of stuff.
Well that's one big thing you have over me as he has never even dealt with an ecotec platform ever. He finds it funny to soup up 4 cylinders being he is a big V8 guy but he likes the look of the HHR as he is mostly into pre-50s hotrod coupes/wagons that have a similar look to the HHR.

Good luck and have fun when the build begins. I hope you document everything would love to see it all.

Technical speaking I think

The 2.2 and 2.4 are the same block aND i believe head
Only thing different are the cylinder bore and stroke. With thay being said wouldn't a cam from comp cams site fit a 2.4 even though It's advertised for the 2.2.

The zzp 2.4 cam isn't real aggressive and for the same money comp offers more options (for the 2.2).

You could contact the camshaft company to confirm this.
