Performance Brakes?
Performance Brakes?
I have the disc front and drum rear in my HHR 2LT. My front rotors are warped and it shakes like a bastard when I brake hard. Aside from GM replacement parts, what is a good source for some new rotors and pads, that are higher performance, as I brake hard alot, but not ridiculously expensive?

Put these on mine they were the best bang for the buck. Will create more dust than ceramic pads though.

Mine did the same thing. I only had about 2k on them. I have 40 k on these. I don't know what brand pads I bought, they were ceramic. No bad issues yet. The cross drilled slotted have less area than the stock flat ones but let the hot gasses out so the rotor doesn't get warped. Stopping is a little better, but probably due to pads more than rotors. The main thing I noticed was the lack of fade when pushing hard through the curves. With the stock rotors the pedal would go down very close to the floor by the end of the circuit. The new ones have full pedal. The end feels just like the beginning. I am not saying these are the best, they are all that I have tried. They are much better than stock though. I have them on both of the hhrs and the wife's solstice.

Do NOT put cheap those cheap ass ebay drilled / slotted rotors on your car. They WILL crack at the holes and will not provide any performance increase. I've seen it happen on so many cars its not even funny. Get some good solid rotors and good pads and call it a day. If you're hell bent on getting fancy with slots buy powerslot or EBC brand rotors which are pretty pricey in comparison.
I recently did my brakes and replaced the rotors. I used the EBC premium zinc coated rotors which are usually less then 50$ each, and the EBC Green stuff pads. My brakes are excellent with no warping even when pulling a motorcycle trailer or extended downhill braking.
Here is the info you'll need-
EBC Rotors: E35UPR7375

ps. torque your lug nuts properly to 100ft/lbs !

The hub and rotor are separate.
Has anyone tried these from EBC? I know a few people have tried the slightly more expensive slotted and dimpled rotors, but I don't really like the look of those.

I think the main difference is how much dust the rotors help to get rid of. With the slots going all the way to the edge of the rotor on the Sport rotors, that will help more dirt and brake dust get off the rotor (and onto the wheel
) If you really do not want dust on the wheels I think those Ultimax rotors will be great.
