I know what the factory one looks like. I did want that at first, glad now I didn't for one main reason. It does not protect the edge of the bumper like most do. I had to travel to Atlanta last week on business and then a trip to NC a day later on the weekend. After, I noticed some slight scratches on the edge of the cover. I though that even with the stock pad, it would not have protected that. Actually, that area the pad covers did not have a mark on it. I know on the wife's MPV the pad for it stops just after the edge and curves down some. This is what I am looking for. Not sure if it was the wife from the weekend or the co-worker from last week (I know I picked my suitcase's up). I hand buffed and most of the scratches came out and the rest are hard to see. But want to stop this from happening again.

Ideas or thoughts?

 

I had the same thing happen to my bumper also and was wondering the same.
I wish that someone would make a rear protector that covers the whole rear
bumper where the hatch is. Like a protector but twice as wide and the same length.

Now, I can't remember where I had seen them, but somewhere in here, some time ago, somebody had a wider step cover that went right to the edge of the bumper. Maybe it was SoCalHHR's ?

 

Ya Socal makes one but its wierd looking. I just ordered a stock pad from gm and im wondering if im even gonna put it on but I dont haul to much and its better than no protection.

 

SoCal only has 2 on the site, and both of them only cover the area that has the ridge around it, not the full "top deck" of the rear bumper.

 

Use the clear protector on that area, cut it to fit. Problem solved, 50 cents please.

Need durable. Well, guess it's time to see what can be fabbed from local sources.

 

there is a clear material that motorcyclists use to protect the tank from their belts/zippers,it's almost a rubbery feel. it is quite robust, ya might give it a whirl
