Changeling: HHR LT into an SS

I did a search for making an HHR into an SS.
Is there information in ONE place on upgrading (if possible) to the SS?
A project page or website would be great...even a list of GM exchange parts would be helpful.
Thanks,
John

If you're talking about a complete change( body, engine, transmission suspension, interior), well it just isn't worth the time and money. There would be a very long list of parts you would have to swap. A verrry long list. You could buy a real one cheaper............way cheaper.
Not if you're talking about a clone, poser or wannabee, I'll back out of that discussion.

Step 1...Discard 2007 LT

Step 2...Purchase 2008-2010 SS

Not trying to be a smarty pants, but converting a straight HHR to an SS is a can of worms you probably don't want to open, expense, parts availability, and labor costs are just a few things to consider.

I was just thinking about this the other day. What if you just wanted to do an engine swap, if possible?

Much more involved than just changing the engine out, electronics will need to be changed, the fuel system will need changes made, the transmission will have to be swapped out if you have a 5-speed, springs, struts and shocks, etc.

Like I said in post #4. Discard your current HHR and buy an SS if you can swing it financially, you'd be money ahead.

Seriously. You would have to buy most of the parts from a dealership since most places don't carry the items.. Then, install it, and pray to who/whatever you pray to that you don't screw it up.

SS from a dealership? Finished, and covered.

Everyone who's telling you to trade in your LT for an SS is right, if you want an SS through and through. Like they've all said, the work involved to convert an LT to a true SS would be insane in both cost and effort.

If you want an HHR that looks like an SS but doesn't perform like one, then it's a case of installing SS body and interior parts, for starters. I know some HHR owners have done exterior SS conversions, but I don't know if they went so far as to do the interior as well. The interior would be a PITA if you wanted it to be as SS authentic as possible...you'd be changing out all of the seats, the steering wheel (it's smaller than an LS/LT steering wheel and has the "SS" moniker on the horn), and the gauge cluster, for starters.

Used SSes are out there available for purchase...you really would be better off just trading in your LT.

Here's a link to one such exterior conversion...the badging being nowhere near the correct areas give it away as a fake SS, as does the paint color, but the body parts were installed flawlessly...it looks pretty good:

But you would be the top dog on the block! I mean who else could say they spent 40 grand to build an almost real HHR SS?

Lol I get the drift real quick. I was talking to someone about this and was asked if it was possible. I had no idea honestly. I suppose anything is possible with the right price. Once I get this one paid off I may look into a SS. But I do know now it not worth it to try and convert.
