Changeling: HHR LT into an SS
Sleeper, I am pretty much Ready, I was about to buy the Last piece of the puzzle last week. I need to buy a few feet of hose for the pump and some plastic elbows at the local auto parts store, but thats all in stock stuff.
Mechanic Friend who owns his own Shop is also Ready to go.
I mentioned I was about to pull the trigger on the HPTuners Pro Suite, and JoeR PM'ed me and told me to hold off buying it right now.
It seems there is a Glitch, or someone did not realize that the HHR Panel's Vins are not currently Reconized as a Valid Vin.
JoeR has my Vin number and a few other Panel owners Vins and is working with HPTuners on a Fix.
We are currently just Waiting on the software FIX.
That Shop just recently hired on a mechanic who has a nice Blue Cobalt SC SS, so he is also available to get mine done, Both Mechanics say we should be able to be up and running over a weekend, starting on a Friday evening after they close and working Sat. and Sunday, long hours but should be drivable by Sunday evening, then dialing in and fine tuning it after that.
I will also plan on contacting HPT since they are located at
HP Tuners, LLC
725 Hastings Ln
Buffalo Grove, IL 60089
Thats only about 40 miles from my house. Maybe I can get them to check out my Panel in their shop and get a Fix soon.
The Huffer, Blower, or Supercharger, whatever you want to call it these days, is just about fully Polished out now, so just a Waiting game at present.

But I have gotten some compliments on my car from non-enthusiasts, mostly something along the lines of "I've seen those [HHRs] before, but yours looks different...I really like it." I have done some exterior mods, so it looks a little different than other SSes, but not that much...I have Depo headlights and IPCW Bermuda blacks, I had the roof and rear valence painted black, and I blacked out the factory SS badges and had the rim center caps painted, but I haven't added any body effects that weren't already there...I simply colored some things in.
You are right in that a lot of people don't know the difference and couldn't care less, but more people take note of an SS than you'd think.
Heck guys, I can't wait to see this Completed.
I have got to mold the pillar pods in a spare pillar cover I have.
I gotta buy the Upper Radiator Hose from a Cobalt SC SS, a few feet of heater hose and a couple elbos to route the pump system. The pumps electrical pigtail is ordered.
I may go Order up the upper SC radiator hose today, so I have it here.
You can see I have both Gauges now. The Digital Wideband Air/Fuel Gauge was about $200.00 just for that gauge, the Boost Gauge was about $40.00 I think.
I need to figure out a new air cleaner setup, Don't think I will be using my current K&N set up.
I was gonna ask HHRFreek what he has set up and ask for pics and part numbers, so I can get that all ready to go.
With my new Cowl Hood Scoop, I have the Option of cutting the hood open to actually have a Functioning cowl hood, or not cut the hood open, still undecided on that.
No more Winter driving, but I will still drive it in the rain Spring Summer and Fall.
I am gonna power wash and soda blast all the aluminum parts seen, in my Fathers sand blast cabinet before install just so they are Clean, I was gonna powder coat some pieces Dark Purple, but that holds heat, so I will just clean them up nicely, 10 minutes in the blast cabinet and they will look oem new.
I can always tear it down in the Winter and powder coat things, not much is actually Seen, basically you just see the top of the Supercharger, and thats been Polished.
The HPTune / Panel Vin. # thing is the major hold up here, Not my lack of wanting it Done.

I am basically down to This underside area (the hardest little area never to be seen, but I will know it's been Fully Polished.) that needs to be finished up buffing and polishing on the Supercharger, the rest of it just needs a once over Final Buff, it's looking pretty Sweet.

I'll post a Completed pic once I am finished
