AAAAAAHHHHHHHGGGGG!!!!! Mike- your KILLING me!!!! You seem to have some hippy, voodoo thing going on where your reading my mind!!!! I'd L.O.V.E. to see a 'smoothed' replacement (in BLACK!)... the problem is your spending my money before I even have a chance

Thanks for the heads up on the disassembly... not worried about the wrenchin'- just haven't had a chance to spend time pulling the panel off to look around.
As I'm sure you will- KEEP ME POSTED.

Damn SoCal, you got a big one! I kind of like it though because of the way it makes full use of the space.

Having a fella "grind" off the grill bow tie. Then fill in with some special stuff I had to buy for him to 'fill in the gaps' to make the grill bars smooth. He's working on it this week. I was hoping to have it complete by the Cinco de Solvang run, but it wont be ready in time.

If this works out, I'd like to do the same with the rear lift gate bowtie also.
...and if it does work, of course I'll pass the details of what he all did to make it happen to ya'll.

I don't think there's anything to "grind" when it comes to the bowtie. Those bowties are glued on from what I understand. Just some dental floss should do ya' just fine I reckon at least for the front grill bowtie.

The grille is formed in the shape and size of the gold bowtie. The gold bowtie with the chrome border is the part thats taped on. I took mine apart after I cut it up.

The bowtie is comin' OFF..... not just the bowtie itself, the entire 'form' it sits in also. The 'fom' that the gold 'removable' bowties sits in is raised above the existing grill bar. Thats the reason for the molding to build back up the grill bar (less the bowtie) as that will be damaged in the process.
