To save a little money, you could get the cloth seats and order the heating elements from PFYC.com for $99

In reference to the material, I guess my concern was that in articles I had read (C&D I think), they made mention to the fact that the leather seats offered more support and more cushion. Does anyone know if there is any difference in seat padding in the two? Heat seems to be sold alongside the Katzkin covers, so that doesn't really seem to be an issue.

Thanks again!
Awhile back, I had rented an HHR that had cloth seats and now own one with leather seats. One of the first things I noticed was that the leather seats 'felt' more comfortable and supportive compared to the cloth in the rental. Even though they look the same visually, I have a feeling that there's a difference in the padding underneath the upholstery. I have no hard data to back up this statement, just my posterior experience in comparing the two.

You can't compare a rental to a brand new one. Unless you are the absolute first renter of the car.

I understand your point, but I cannot see how there could be much of a difference in the seats between a rental with 5000 or so miles and the 1100-mile used one that I bought. If anything, the seat in the rental should have been broken in better.

While shopping around, I sat in various HHRs with cloth and they all felt stiff.
