did you remove this to do the work on the cover if so whats the part number on the gasket and how much did it cost

Although I haven't done it my self (plan on painting mine ... whatelse?... BLACK), I'm sure GM's using a rubber gasket.
You should be able to reuse the gasket without issue due to the fact theres only a small amount of torque to the cover bolts. I'd recommend prepping both surfaces (prolly channel grooved gasket) with alcohol AND have a tube of RTV silicone on-hand to 'aid' in sealing every here-n-there (should it be needed). Just be sure to pay attention to the gasket on removal for any signs of RTV.

can someone confirm this? i hate to pull it off and not have a gasket and need one on a sunday
