What would the cost be if you installed them?

Installation is rather time consuming so I would think that's where some of that big cost is coming from (around here, the dealership labour rate is $99 an hour).

I imagine that I would be charged 525 for the boards and then X amount of dollars to paint them....if it turns out only a couple hyndred to install then I would not mind paying...I'm going to see if I can reduce the costs somehow, someway....I don't mind paying for the boards but I don't want to get raped either.....Found a Golden Teal LT1 with Ebony and Cloth with fogs but no boards....no Teals in New England with fogs and boards without a ton of other stuff I don't want

There is still a Dark Silver with the upgraded stero and chrome with boards and fogs which would be almost 900 less but not crazy on color(you save a boatload if you can get a HHR with boards already)

Goose, I posted this in another thread, but it probably belongs here. Buy the boards, either from a junker or new from the dealer, and have them painted by a local shop or even a vo-tech. Keep in mind that the fancier the paint job you get is going to translate into a more expensive paint job on the boards, too. Golden Teal is a complex paint scheme requiring special basecoats and a tinted clear, so expect to pay big bucks for that stuff.

You can always try to order the car, too!

I saw your answer in the other thread...thanks! Yeah I started thinking that the Golden Teal was not your regular run of the mill color..maybe that's what I like about it. I'm thinking now that a less expensive route might be to find one with boards already and install the factory fogs afterwards...or suck it up and maybe consider the Dark Silver one(not a bad color and in fact one of my choices before I really noticed the Teal)

I was told May 9th was the last day to order a 2007 HHR?

If you order it from the factory you can get the bds on the HHR for $455.00

The only problem with ordering from the factory is that I'd have to wait for it to be built and by the time it came in I would have to go with whatever incentive was available at the time of delivery.( June or July more than likely) might be better, might be worse but my Military Incentive of 1000 dollars expires in May as it is "Armed Forces" month

And might all be a moot point if indeed you needed to order by May 9th for a factory order......

Dealer with the Golden Teal HHR with fogs and Ebony interior came back with 800 to install and paint...better than 1100 but still up there. Also now I'm a little concerned about getting a good match with the factory color...Crafty brings up a good point on it being a pretty complex paint job.

Not to mention a 250 doc fee! I think if I went this route I'd be paying about 1500 dollars more for a Teal HHR vs the Dark Silver one and the DS comes with Chrome, Fogs, Boards and Pioneer. Steep price for vanity I guess..yeesh hmmmmmmm

Thanks for all your input.
It helps when you get input from people that are going through the same thing that you are

Don't pay a $250 doc fee...try $150.

If they start nickel and diming you on fees like that, it's hammer time! All that crap is negotiable.
