Here's the TSB info...
06-08-51-002 APR 06 Body - Paint/Body Damage On Rocker Panels
I got that info from here
2006 HHR Link: http://www.alldatadiy.com/TSB/0611bs_en.html
2007 HHR Link: http://www.alldatadiy.com/TSB/0711bs_en.html
They will paint the area once and suggest running boards...but they are at customer cost. I got mine at 1000 miles and had minimal damage and this was before the TSB came out. Dealer charged me $445 option cost for boards and $100 to install.

Does this apply to 2008s as well? I just got my HHR a few weeks back, btu want to address this at the 1,000 mile checkup my dealer does (no cahrge)...if it applies.

The stone protectors aren't worth *****. You have to go with the running boards to protect the rear fenders. I bought mine with the only the stone guards and had visible damage within 5000 miles. After the installation of running boards and the free GM repaint I have shown no rear fender damage on my '06.

........nothing beats double the protection ......actually it will add just a touch of needed down force on my SS that already has running/ ground effects boards......not to mention I kinda maybe would like that look.

I have both on mine. The stone guards came stock -- and chipped up within 3000 miles. After I had the boards put on and the fenders painted I experienced no more problems. The stone guards chip, just like an unprotected fender.
