I'll question this "DR's" attitude, which is very similar to other "postings" in other forums, mags, and papers.

Because of it, I believe he may be the contract employee that was dismissed from a GM paint shop for improprieties. I suspect he will be back

I like the look of it without the boards, but I like the look of some that I've seen with pipes. Do the pipes help at all with the sandblasting??
It's not just the folks up north, anywhere that you kick up road debris it will hit the rear fenders. It was posted in the past that pipes help little.

If you don't have boards, you WILL have this problem. It just may be more or less than others, but it will happen.

Let me get this straight DR Paint. Not trying to start anything but trying to understand where you're coming from. You're saying GM purposely designed the car so the rear fenders would chip to make people buy running boards?

I believe CH brought this to everyones attention. Even with the boards, it will start to happen. Dory's fenders are starting to show some abrasions.

I love a good thriller ...I'd love to know what the "know" is...it isn't like any of this is earth shattering new information

It's probably George Bush's fault...Lord knows everything else is...Katrina, gas prices, the weather, kittens with no mittens etc......

All. its fine if you do not want to know what the deal is on this issue. And no
GM did not do this on purpose. the fact is that after they understood that HHR'S WITHOUT the boards were at a much higher risk they chose to take it
and the result is what folks with out boards get. And yes it's true that other painted areas that are exposed will chip too. This however is poor design. I chose this site in an effort to try and educate those of you who may not be knowledgeable in regard to paint AND OTHER COATINGS However you have to understand the root cause of the problem before devloping a fix. Canada tried to do the right thing by stepping up and providing board to thier customers Im not sure if thats still happening.Oh and by the way IM NOT a disgruntled GM employee. rather then making smart ass comments ask questions and you may learn
