ok guys here's the really deal. What we have here is a built in factory defect.
No matter how many times you paint it IT WILL STONE CHIP. even with sprayble chip guard or mylar flim it WILL FAIL. ONLY ANSWER IS THE RUNNING BOAREDS. GM knew this was going to happen. Thier first attemp was to release a plastic protecter. guess what its a painted part. They gave you a paint part to protect a painted part does that even make sence? Take it BACK ONCE TWICE THREE TIMES THEN GO FOR A BUY BACK. THEY EITHER DO IT RIGHT WITH THE RUNNING BOARES. OR YOU HAVE A GOOD CASE FOR LEMON LAW. WHAT GRINDS MY ASS IS THAT THEY KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN

Car paint gets damaged sooner or later. GM knew this would happen? You have a source to confirm that?

How can you think damaged paint would make a car a lemon?

Welcome aboard BTW.

Relax.

This issue is the dead horse that was beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten..........

If I'm not mistaken, most lemon laws relate to either safety issues, or mechanical problems which can't be fixed. You said yourself, there is a fix for this, the running boards.

To call it a design flaw I still think is wrong. Its a 50 year old design with 50 year old problems. The solution would have been to not have any fenders like the HHR has. But then we really would have a PT Cruiser. The fenders are what makes the design, along with the hood. If you don't want 50 year old problems, don't buy a car based on a 50 year old design.

Also wouldn't all three repaints have to happen within the first year according most lemon laws?

If you do a search you will find a number of threads on this TOUCHY Subject.
With different outcomes. But the BB will not help on this matter it has been tried if not posted on this Fourm, it was another. Others have tried and failed. But good Luck to you when you try.

I did research before I bought on 3 Fourms, so I knew to get the bds.
