Donbrew.....

LED tail lights must be legal in all 50 states. Several of the Japan cars have them as standard equipment.....I believe Camry is one.

Unless you are speaking of the clear lens on the rear lights...that may be illegal. But most I have seen have the red bulbs, which I would think, make them legal.

Different situation. Standard equipment v. Replacement.

I'm think it has something to do with lumens. All I actually know is the label on the ones in the store.

You could be correct....the lumens thing. The Cadillac Escalade is another, my wife just informed me (I also had to look it up....she was right).

I think a replacement bulb like this spider that is LED is fine but some replacement lamp assemblies are not!

Hope there is more to this since so many cars/trucks today have LED's as factory tailights. Fairly generic statement there.

Most Dodges these day, all Caddy's. Tail lights must be visible for "X" number of feet, and that's not far either. The old single tailights from antique cars/trucks are still legal.

Just looked it up, 500' for pre 1969 and 1,000' for later.

I'm gonna look into LED bulbs AND new lenses since the tint and/or lenses are already melting after one week. Smh...
The tint should come with a warning about lenses getting hotter. I should have considered it myself.

Fairly generic? The advertising poster say not legal for street use. There is a difference between OE and AFTERMARKET. The DOT has to put stamps on everything!

I knew I should have taken a pic of the display today!

Yes sir, ended up melting my passenger side lens a little. Wish to hell I would have realized when I did this mod. I bought a pair of LED bulbs at Advance Auto a few days ago. $16 for a pair. They are very bright and the lenses dont get hot at all! I'll get some new lenses eventually and redo the tint
