All paint jobs aren't the same either. My Suzuki's finish was never as smooth as those that you see today, even when new. Always had a slight grain. The urethane fenders were always a little more dull than the rest.

But we didn't have the waxes 23 years ago that we have today either. I always bought what was on sale, but it was never the bottom of the barrel for the time. Like oil and fuel, so as long as you buy quality, any of the top players should suffice.

In the pic, it's not a fresh wax job, only a 1st washing of the season. Even new, it never looked as good as the finish on a black HHR (in which I own one as well). My latest experiment is with the Eagle 1 Gel with Carnauba that everyone's talking about. I got a free bottle thanks to this website's members.

I did their ice clay bar followed by the ice "wax" in the fall, and it is still beading when it rains. It was very easy to put on and wipe off-no residue.

But, I have not tried to strip it, I sure don't want my clearcoat coming off...
I've used turtle was ice for 2 years now on my SS without any problems. It goes on easy and provides a nice shine. However if there is problem with the stuff I don't want to take a chance of damaging my paint. Anymore news on the law suit?

The lawsuit is for some chemical additives (silicones) that are supplied by Turtle Wax, Simoniz, and Blue Coral. This strictly relates to AUTOMATIC CAR WASHES. It is also BS about removing a clear coat. Taking car finish advice from "the autozone guy" is as reliable as taking as taking cooking advice from "the Bed Bath and Beyond guy".

FWIW, I clay bar once a year and then apply Turtle Wax.

Just good 'ole plain Turtle wax is mostly carnuba paste wax. It's cheap and protects very well for several months. I use Meguires Quick detailer with every car wash. After about the 5th or 6th wash, I'll wax again and repeat until spring when it's clay bar time.

My vehicle is always garaged (home and work), and I use a "California Cloth" brush on it about once a week. I don't usually drive the HHR when the weather is crappy, so it stays clean.

I also clean out the engine compartment about once a month. Open the hood, clean everything with a little windex and paper towels. Quick Detailer where ever things are painted or shiny. A paper towel loaded up with detailer on the hoses and it's done. 20 minutes tops.

Hey bad03xtreme!!! You didn't click on the link I left. I just rechecked it. The paste is on that page. I am sure you have to pay shipping but if it works for you, you should go for it.

I use Liquid Glass on mine, it is also great on the windows. It is recommended that you use the pre cleaner first.

I use T.W. ice on the black grill work of the SS, And it's perfect to bring it to a clean black.
Won't use it on the paint as it is rediculous to remove.

Skip any wax that has a cleaner in it, as they usually leave a white residue behind.

Adam's Machine Super Wax doesn't leave any white behind, as it is a synthetic sealant - lasts a long time. But it is made for application by machine. (a random orbit polisher will work fine). And the shine is very good.

I have also had good luck with their Americana paste wax, and also their liquid Buttery wax.
