12V switched power

where are you guys, that have aftermarket HU's, where are you tapping in for this. My alpine 9855 will be here Monday, so im trying to gather as much info before it gets here. Im going to try the metra wiring kit for the malibu 70-2103, and it needs to have a 12v switched power run to the fuse box. i want the radio to turn off like it does now. any help would be nice.

12 volt power from consol fuse box

I wired both the accessory and constant 12 v from my pioneer to the constant power wire from my old head unit, so my radio stays on until i shut it off. I had originally hooked it up using the accessory power. I went to pep boys and bought something called tap a fust i think. It's a mini fuse holder with a power lead coming out of it. I plugged it in to a 10amp spare fuse hole in the fuse box in the car and use that. I used a volt meter at first to confirm it was ACC power and not constant. I use this tap a fuse for my other stereo stuff like my Sirius receiver, my subwoofer and my Monitor.

yep, hitting the fuse box is a very short distance to the head unit which is nice. I did notice the sticker on the fuse box as far as where spares are located is not correct all the time, so def use the voltmeter to test it. The tap a fuses from pep boys come with 4 mini fuses, 10A being the max. my head unit was rated 10A max so i'd assume yours is too.
